Special Election - Community Center

 

MARCH 9, 2021 UPDATE

Voters in Mountain Home approved two sales-tax measures for the construction of a new community center and aquatic complex at McCabe Park, as well as sweeping refurbishments to all of the city's parks.

Issue 1, a permanent quarter-cent sales tax for operation and maintenance of the new facility received 835 votes in favor and 737 votes against, in unofficial tallies.

Issue 2, a half-cent sales tax that will sunset after funding bonds for the construction of the project, received 807 votes in favor and 760 votes against.

Vote YES for the Community Center on March 9, 2021 - Election day will be held between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. , at the following polling places:

Baxter County Courthouse
1 E. 7th St., Mountain Home

Election Commission Headquarters
213 E. 5th St., Mountain Home

Twin Lakes Plaza
759 Business Hwy 62 East, Mountain Home


Early voting begins on March 2, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the following location:

1 E. 7th Street, Mountain Home, AR.


A special election regarding the Mountain Home
Park Project will take place in Mountain Home on March 9, 2021. Mountain Home voters will have an opportunity to address two ballot initiatives. The first measure on the ballot is to levy a temporary one-half cent sales and use tax to finance the construction of the Mountain Home Community Center Complex along with overhauling every site in the Mountain Home Parks System. The other measure on the ballot is to levy a permanent one-quarter-cent sales and use tax for the maintenance and operation of the park facilities. More information will be available at a later date.
