12-2022 Street Committee Minutes

Street Committee Meeting

December 20, 2022 - 12:30 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 12:30 p.m.

Present were Arnold Knox, Director of Streets; Jim Bodenhamer, Susan Stockton, Jennifer Baker and Paige Evans, Committee members.

The Street Report for November 2022 was reviewed.

Arnold reported that the box culvert that had been built for the Bike Path will not be paid for by the Grant that was applied for.  He said ARDOT still needs to approve the plans and he has been waiting for their approval since October.  An approximate $167,000 Grant, which is an 80/20 cost share had been applied for.  The total cost through November 30 for the Bike Path, which will go from McCabe Park under the Bypass and connect to Arkansas State University's path, is $75,976.87.

The new access road that is going to the new community center is going well.  The road has been dug out and is ready to be built.  The construction crew has been working on the box culvert over the creek.  The total cost as of November 30, 2022, is $44,694.39.

The Russell Lane Rebuild project has most of the culvert in; curbs are going into the curve.  Arnie reported the road will be dug out as soon as all the curbs are in.  When the road is dug out it will be a full two lanes to use.  Jennifer asked when the project will be completed and Arnie said they will be paving this summer.  The current cost to Russell Lane is $267,739.06.

Work at the Clysta Willett ballfields is continuing with concrete work and completing drainage.  Arnie said they are back in the park to finish up before the start of baseball season March 1.   The cost to Clysta Willett ballfields is $138,095.14.

Maintenance is going well, and crack sealing has started.  The maintenance crew has started working on the retention pond at Hickory Park, between the parking lot and the bank.

The Budget Summary was reviewed, and Arnie said everything looked good and expected about a $3.4 million carryover into next year.

The meeting adjourned at 12:52 p.m.
