Vacation Service

VACATION SERVICE

Customers may request water service be temporarily disconnected and shut off at the meter when the property is expected to be vacant for an extended period. There is a minimum of 30 days or more for temporary disconnection. There is a fee for disconnecting and a fee for reconnecting service; however, during the period when service is temporarily disconnected there shall be no monthly minimum charge. If customer receives sanitation service through contracted city sanitation provider, sanitation will also be suspended.

When a customer requests to place their account on vacation status, a service technician is dispatched on the date chosen to turn water off and lock the water meter. The city will not drain pipes or pull meters for temporary vacancies.

To request vacation service:
Call our office and speak to our billing department. Give us the date you wish to disconnect and date to reconnect (if known).
Please note: Customer (or representative) must be at service location when water service is restored.

When emailing our office please include the following:
     • Account Holder Name
     • Account Number
     • Service Address
     • Phone Number
     • Vacation Start/End Date(s)
     • Updated Billing Address (if changing)

Important notes:
• The Water Dept charges a water meter tampering fee when meters are unlocked and/or turned on without the consent of the water department.
• Customers who turn on/off their meter valves are subject to any damage or repairs.

Fee schedule as of 01/01/2024.  Fees are subject to change:
Vacation turn-off fee $25.00
Vacation turn-on fee $25.00
Water meter tampering fee: $200.00
